Create Your Own Engagement Ring With Loose CZ’s And Settings

Engaged Couple, Engagement Ring by Tela Chhe, No Modifications,

Loose CZ’s and settings help us think outside the jewelry box.

When it comes to picking out an engagement ring, there are a million choices both online and in the jewelry stores around your town. Many couples start with a budget and then go from there. After the price point has been decided, bridal rings are chosen based on a particular favorite setting material and design. The problem comes when the bride-to-be can’t find a thing she likes within the constraints of the budget.

Deciding Whether To Make Your Own Ring Style Or Go With Ready-Made

Do you want a particular style of ring that you can’t find anywhere? If you have your heart set on something that represents the unique relationship you have with your mate, custom designing your own engagement ring is a wonderful idea. It can also save you a lot of money.

Pear Shaped Cubic Zirconia Aquamarine Blue

The sky is the limit when it comes to making your own custom ring:

  • A sterling silver scroll setting with a pink heart-shaped 2 carat CZ.
  • A yellow gold setting with a round blue CZ center stone.
  • A modern stainless steel setting with a princess cut CZ .
  • What about a pear-shaped Aquamarine CZ on something intricate and vintage?

There Is A Shimmering Wonderland Of Loose CZ Stones In Fake Diamond World

If you have an artistic eye and a creative mind, you can just look at a loose stone or an unfinished setting and put together a fabulous design in your imagination. If you love bling, you will love the inspiration that comes from the sparkle of a top-quality loose CZ gemstone. Here are a few of my personal favorites:

From left to right: 0.10 Ct Diamond Weight Square cut, 0.50 carat Diamond weight Emerald cut CZ, 1.65 carat Diamond weight round cut CZ.

Aren’t these stones gorgeous? The real shocker are the prices. At the time of this post, not one of them cost more than $15.00 each. All of the stones are sold through Amazon by the Logos Company. They offer some incredibly affordable loose Cubic Zirconia gemstones that are believably brilliant. Their 12 carat stone is a knock out!

What I love is that you can buy a good-quality loose CZ for under $5.oo (!). I know that sounds cheap, but when you have a diamond weight Cubic Zirconia made by a reputable company mounted on a great setting, you really can create a fabulous engagement ring.

So what happens when you now have a pretty loose stone in your possession? You get to choose a setting for it. I recommend going to a jewelry store in person and asking  to see their order book of settings and mountings.  There are two categories of settings for loose stones:

  1. Engagement Ring Settings– Reputable jewelry companies like Zales, Kay Jewelers, Littmans, e.t.c. always offer settings so the bridal couple can make their own design if they choose. Some come with genuine diamonds along the band.
  2. Gemstone Settings– If you compare the prices between a gemstone setting versus an engagement ring setting, the gemstone version is much less expensive.

You can really see the price differences if you check out Zales Engagement Ring Settings versus Gemstone Settings by I think shopping for a custom ring would require some extra planning, don’t you think? So many setting and stone choices!

Picking Out Your Own Unique Stone And Setting Is Fun

What would you put in here?

Choosing a loose gemstone that reflects your favorite color and shape ( and dream carat weight) is a lot of fun. With a fake diamond, you can get more for your money. Once you have your stone or stones, you can head off to the jewelry store to leaf through the setting book.

Jewelry stores answer all your questions about how the custom mounting process works:

  •  They will advise you what type of prong setting works best with the stone shape and size.
  • They will give you a date of completion and have you come back for your final fitting/ inspection.
  • Many, if not most, jewelry stores let you place items on layaway.
  • You will receive some type of guarantee for your custom ring.

Waiting For Your Finished Ring Can Be Exciting

Having anything custom made is both nerve wracking and exciting. When I went to the jewelry store to have a loose emerald mounted on a gold setting, the salesman warned me, ” This emerald has a large inclusion which could cause it to crack when we try to mount it. We’ll do our best”.

Little did they know that I memorized that inclusion until it was burned into my brain. I was so worried about them replacing my precious emerald with a fake substitute. That worry in itself wouldn’t happen if you are bringing a jeweler a fake to begin with. 🙂

* As for my custom emerald ring, it turned out fine. Since the day I slipped it on my finger 30 years ago at the jewelry store in 1985, it only comes off for a cleaning, then back on again.

Why Rich Women Wear Fake Diamonds When They Can Afford The Real Thing

The Queen of diamonds-Elizabeth Taylor 1953

Every girl wants a genuine diamond, but now many of them are perfectly satisfied with a top-quality fake. After men spent trillions of dollars pleasing their women, they may have to throw out millenniums of beliefs. Now, many women are willing to wear a faux stone either permanently or temporarily. Even extremely wealthy women collect fabulous fakes when they could easily afford the real thing.

Why Do Rich Women Wear Fake Diamonds?

While the majority of women prefer their men to buy them real jewels, they have fun buying the fake ones themselves. The interesting thing about this is that wealthy women do the same thing. So why do rich women specifically, when they can afford so much more, prefer to wear fake diamond rings? It doesn’t seem to make sense, but here are a few reasons to consider:

We Automatically Assume The Rich Wear Real

If you saw someone who you knew was on Forbes 10 richest list and you saw them out and about looking fabulously brilliant dripping in jewelry, wouldn’t you assume they were genuine stones? It can be quite intriguing to have fans admiring your “diamond” ensemble when you know they aren’t diamonds at all.  Who is going to question a millionaire about the quality of her gemstones?

The Maid Can Run Off With The Imitation Family Jewels

Jewelry CollectionIf you have loads of money and buy jewelry worth millions, it can be scary trusting your household staff with your personal property. It’s a huge hassle to have to keep your rings and things in a safety deposit box at the bank. It can be a huge headache to have to open your wall safe every time you want to switch earrings or necklaces.

With a few fakes around, the maid can run off with your $19.99 CZ ring without causing a major panic attack. Why? She wont get much for it on the black market. Serves her right, doesn’t it?.

They Can Save On Insurance Premiums And Other Expenses

Let’s face it. Some people become rich because they are misers. If they can squeeze a penny until it squeaks they will. The more stuff you have of value, the more it costs to insure it. Replacement insurance for mega-diamonds cost money. Since the rich tend to travel and vacation more, they are at greater risk for misplacing valuables.

Unfortunately, in today’s crazy world, it can be dangerous to display your wealth out in public.  Someone could physically take your jewelry, possibly causing bodily harm in the process. Sadly, a brilliant fake with a large carat weight can still attract the attention of a robber. Hence, bodyguard protection is a necessary reality for the very rich and famous.

There’s Nothing Like Old Hollywood Glamor To Showcase Diamonds-Real Or Fake

Marilyn Monroe

Surprisingly, Marilyn Monroe never wore diamonds in real life. She borrowed them from famous jewelry houses for her celebrity photo shoots and appearances.

Rich Women Like To Mix It Up For Fashion

Sometimes women just want to show off their fashion style without paying a lot. Having multiple fake gemstone jewelry items means matching them to different outfits and always looking stylish. Fake diamond costume jewelry continues to look better and better as the years go buy. The stigma attached to wearing fakes is long gone.

Jewelry-addicted women don’t need to keep buying real gemstones, even if they can afford it. It’s literally throwing money away if they wear a different jewelry ensemble with every different outfit.

Buying A Fake Diamond Ring Can Be Less Fussy

There are thousands of ready-to-wear fake diamond rings out there online. There is no need to shop between stores if you don’t want to. This saves a lot of time and makes shopping quicker. Buying fakes on the spot is easier than real diamond rings as there is a smaller investment. The more you spend, the choosier you become.

Only Her Jeweler Knows For Sure

Quality fake diamonds are socially acceptable and can show off a woman’s beauty. They can give the same  shine and sparkle as seen in real, high-grade diamond stones. They do not cost as much and women can choose between thousands of different designs.

I think the real reason that rich women buy fakes and enjoy wearing them is the fun of carrying around a delicious secret while being discreet about it in public.

Why Are Cheap Fake Diamond Rings So Popular?

Do you ever wonder why some people prefer cheap fake diamond rings when they could probably afford the genuine article? Lou Reed famously sang, “Why would you have only three diamonds if you can have six?” and that’s something that you really need to ask yourself. You’re probably thinking that you can’t afford a major collection of diamond jewelry; they would burn a hole in your bank account so deep, you might as well crawl into it and forget about your mortgage. So how can you add as much sparkle to your life as possible, without having to sell your soul? The answer is simple: opt for fabulous fakes.

Bling On A Budget Is Smart And Trendy
russian-ice-on-fireDiamonds are stunning, and the way they catch the light can be mesmerizing. You shouldn’t have to cut down on your bling simply because you’re on a budget. Faux diamonds are just as beautiful, and can be incorporated into any outfit to instantly add a glimmering hint of luxury and glamour.
Think about diamonds the way you would think about clothes and bags, not all of us can afford Chanel and Dior, but that shouldn’t stop us from getting as many fashion tips off the runway as we can. It doesn’t, and it shouldn’t. As long as you look good, nobody’s going to check the price tag.

You Get More For The Money
Have you ever pretended to like simple things because that’s all you can afford? No more need for that. If you want to drape yourself in gemstones like Zsa Zsa Gabor, you should go right ahead and do it. Money is no longer an issue when you’re in the market for gorgeous synthetics. It’s amazing what kind of gorgeous bridal sets are out there for less than $50 dollars. In the amount it would take to purchase a small real diamond, you can go all out and cover yourself from head to toe in simulated gems.  The best part is that nobody but you will know the difference.

Buying Fakes Are Popular For Ethical Reasons
Have you ever avoided real mink coats because you don’t believe in hurting animals, but still bought faux fur-lined items? That’s what a lot of people do when it comes to diamonds. Real diamonds are often mined from conflict areas, and may have the blood of many poor miners and their families on them. To take a stand, many people reject real diamonds, and go for beautiful and intricately designed guilt-free fakes. You can always mount fake gems on sterling silver or 14k gold, so your ring has value but isn’t tainted with conflict.

Even Royalty Choose Fabulous Fakes Over The Real Thing
Did you know that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, wears fakes on occasion? Being married to Prince William, she has no shortage of funds flowing in. But she, too, knows that you can be just as beautiful and glamorous without dishing out millions. She was seen wearing an inexpensive pair of delicate imitation pearl and diamond earrings at the Diamond Jubilee service at St Paul’s Cathedral in 2012. When it comes to fashion, few do it better than Kate.

So it doesn’t matter if you’re looking for a cheap fake engagement ring to help you start a new life, or just buying some for yourself to fuel your fashion needs. The point is, looking and feeling great on a budget has never been this easy. Go ahead and indulge your desires, you deserve it.
